Brian Raber, Chief Operating Officer, Renewable Biomass Group - USA

Brian Raber has more than 32 years of experience in the energy industry and over 14 years in senior management and executive positions.  He has extensive experience in engineering, project management, and operations in midstream and downstream oil & gas and petrochemical companies.  Brian has served on the senior management team of several successful midstream startups and has played a key role in expanding operations into new shale basins and developing and executing major infrastructure projects.

Brian is an industry expert in process design, advanced control systems and startup activities for major industrial facilities.  He is experienced in carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration projects including the successful construction of a 200,000 TPA CO2 processing and underground injection facility in the Permian Basin.  In 2019, he developed project concept and design basis for 1.2 MTPA CO2 sequestration project in the Delaware Basin of New Mexico.

Most recently, Brian served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Lucid Energy II LLC.  Lucid was formed with a $1.6 Billion capital commitment from Goldman Sachs and Riverstone, LLC to develop, acquire, and expand midstream assets in the northern Delaware Basin with an emphasis on treating, gathering, and processing of sour gas as well as sequestration of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide gas streams.  Within an 18-month period, Mr. Raber built an engineering and operations team that successfully expanded existing infrastructure to accommodate over 1.2 BCFD of associated gas production including 500 MMcfd of new gas treating and processing infrastructure.  This capital program was completed on time and under budget.

Brian served as Senior Vice President Engineering and Project Management at Summit Midstream LLC.  He was responsible for Summit’s capital growth and maintenance capital programs across seven major shale basins.  Key accomplishments included a program to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, proposed and implemented a change in compression strategy that reduced capital by 65%, and developed the technical strategy and project definition for winning major capital projects in the Delaware Basin thus expanding Summit’s footprint into one of the most prolific shale basins.

Brian played a key role in building a new midstream affiliate at NiSource Inc., NiSource Midstream Services LLC, where he served as Vice President, Operations and Engineering. Within a two-year period, he built and led an engineering and operations group that successfully executed approximately $500 Million in green field capital expansion projects in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays.

Brian’s prior experience includes senior management positions for Hoover Energy Partners, Enterprise Products Partners, and Raber Process Controls.  His early career included 9 years in engineering and project management primarily developing new energy infrastructure.  Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Oral Roberts University and earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University.
